On April 29, 2024, Antifa and far-left extremists seized the entire Millar Library at Portland State University, causing the whole campus to be shut down during midterms. After first establishing a growing CHAZ-style encampment outside called the "Gaza Liberation Zone," which PSU president Ann Cudd allowed, the militants broke inside and are vandalizing the library. The militants are using children as human shields in preparation for a PR disaster for the Portland Police and administrators if force is used to remove the militants. They say the library is now named the "Refaat Alareer Library."
