USMNT might have had some sympathy, until 47 interceded regarding what happened to Balogun. Some of his predecessors could’ve made the call & handled the situation with grace & tact, and others wouldn’t have bothered trying.
In a vacuum, was the red card a bad call by the ref? Arguably so. But 47 generally isn’t the person you want making an appeal on your behalf.

Cringe leftists were always going to complain, but they’re irrelevant to the general sports discussion.
Frankly, Balogun being in the game or not being in the game probably didn’t have much of an impact on whether or not we ended up winning the game. This was an all-around poor display of skill from pretty much everybody on the field.
That’s why, in four years’ time, people won’t remember anything about Trump; they’ll remember the poor performance of the US men’s team, and how much it stung.

I think you’re overestimating how much people in the US care about soccer. In 4 years nobody here is even going to remember we were in the world cup - making it extra ridiculous that 47 tried to interfere.

Well…I think in 4 years, we’ll remember that we were in the World Cup. It’ll have to come up during the coverage. I just think that because Trump’s decision (which I don’t agree with, for the record!) didn’t affect the outcome, it probably won’t be worth mentioning.
