Comment on Meta Ran Ads That Contained AI-Generated Child Sexual Abuse Imagery

Everybody is blaming Meta for serving these ads, but, you see, they just didn’t know. They took them down as soon as the were informed. Really, how could they possibly have known the content of the ads they sold, hosted and served? Those ads were very much against their rules, I can assure you of that. Their automated detection system is doing it’s best, and they only proved it let through fifty odd such images. They swear it stopped a whole bunch more. What more do you want from them? What? You want them to pay someone to actually vet the ads they serve? Don’t be ridiculous, that would cut into their profits. Unacceptable. Hold them responsible for the illegal content of ads they served? Absolutely not. How dare you?!
/s in case it wasn’t obvious.

They actually don’t take them down. I’ve been flagging stuff like this for 6 months. They refused. I appealed the refusal, a human supposedly reviewed it and it still was refused.
I’m talking about obvious CSAM or allusions to it. Accounts run by cybercriminals using images of minors to lure marks.
