Pothetato@lemmy.world 1 year agoYou can but you’d be wrong. I hereby declare that a sticker is defined as having a back layer that you easily peel off, exposing the adhesive, before applying. If you create something to that effect, sticker. Otherwise, it’s just glued on paper.

K. But the person applying glue to paper and setting said paper would then be called a sticker. And the way language works, in a generation or two, the word sticker will then reference that glue-paper arrangement.

If he manages to apply an easy removable layer to the gluey part, then the person will be holding a sticker in his hands.
It’s all about being able to carry it around without it sticking anywhere and to just stick it anywhere you like, after easily removing said layer.
