I'm actually thinking that eventually these companies will be on the verge of bankruptcy and finally putting out 4K releases for this stuff will save them. Which unfortunately makes more money for the studios in the long run because there will be a bunch of people buying these movies on Blu-Ray and then buying the 4K discs when they come out in 10 or 15 years.

I doubt that Disney will be anywhere near bankruptcy for a long time. I think they’ve realized that keeping content on streaming platforms gives them control over it indefinitely, even if operating the platform isn’t profitable. They probably won’t release a lot of that content on physical media unless the streaming becomes drastically costly.
If Blu-ray is still being distributed in 10-15 years it will be like gwttign a VHS tape today.

Fair enough, I should have said streaming services instead of production studios.
Investors have started knocking at Netflix's door asking for the profits and it's only a matter of time before stakeholders do the same to Hollywood-run streaming services.
IDK. Blu-Ray margins are good enough for them to keep making them for most movies at least, from what I see. It's for TV seasons that I think Blu-Ray releases are in jeopardy, although we'll continue to get DVD releases for quite awhile IMHO.
