I'm a few episodes into History of Rome and it sounds pretty good to me but I don't yet know what to make of it from a marxist standpoint, what do you think?

Once you listen to history of Rome I recommend Michael parenti's book "The assassination of Julius Caesar" looks at the end of republic period from a marxist perspective. The audiobook is on youtube.

That should be a different podcast all together.
Mike Duncan has been great from his Rome stuff. I haven't listen to his Revolutions series.
