ozoned@lemmy.world 3 weeks agoI switched. :-). People on Reddiy used to tell me no one would switch to Lemmy. Also look at Mastodon.
I also know some streamers that stream to both Twitch and their Owncast. To each their own. It’s here if folks become interested. Most don’t even know a self hosted option exists.

Props to you. Though, based on your stream description, you are more technical than most people, which is a huge barrier for entry. Even Mastodon is unattainable for most people.

That’s it. The rest is handled from a website front end like Twitch’s. But yes, it’s more than Twitch.

Right, but how many casual streamers have a server or know how to SSH into it to even run the command? It’s only easy from if you are already technical, even if the actual process is not complicated.
