Comment on Honkai: Star Rail publisher sues player for $150,000 over streaming a character before release
Flareon@lemmy.world 23 hours agoThere was a post on the Genshin Reddit which made a big deal about how Kinich’s new EN voice actor was Japanese (because he has a Japanese last name) and therefore he was not eligible to join the American VA union, so ackshually he’s not a scab. I made a comment saying that Kinich’s new actor is in fact American (like 15 seconds of research) and was therefore eligible to join the union. I didn’t say he should or should not join it, I just said that he could. Literally hundreds of downvotes, and then like two days later the VA tweets saying that he’s not even ethnically Japanese he just took his wife’s last name lmao. The Genshin subreddits are absolutely deranged with how much they hate the VA union.
Meanwhile my Reddit account can’t even post anymore because I have negative total karma just from that exchange, and almost every subreddit requires you have positive karma to comment. Not a big loss though, Reddit is the worst.

I nuked my reddit account from orbit back when the API fiasco hit and haven’t looked back. My understanding is it’s become even more a shithole since.
I have people at my work that are so so strongly anti-union, and it makes zero sense, because even basic googling will tell you what our specific union has fought for and accomplished over the decades, and how they are directly benefiting from it. But, no one is immune to propaganda, and wow did these people buy it hook line and sinker.
