No way I know of. Hit your power button and turn the phone off when you look away.
Pretty much all apps work as you describe.

Thanks, but how silly is that!. I only noticed it recently but the idea is bugging me. It feels like I have to close the chat as soon as I look away from it. I don’t need that kind of “stress”.

Also, wet hands, texting someone while im in the shower. Leave the phone on the table and cant click out of it. No bueno
