The CTRL+SHIFT+O is causes by how wayland works: Only the current window and the compositor may access input.

As for window customization, yeah; it’s absolutely possible. You can even change the transperancy, in which mode an app’s window pops out, how does it pop out, how fast/slow are the animations, etc.
