AI forced sites to add energy-wasting mining algorithms (mining was originally proposed exactly for this purpose, but it was used for and popularized by Bitcoin before Anubis eventually used it for its intended purpose). Enshittification happens not only because of site hosts commodifying visitors, but second-degree self-defences added by hosters to protect against automated scrapers. It’s getting worse from both ends.
