This sucks ass and even worse that there isn’t a competitor that’s anywhere near Discord’s level yet. And no, Matrix isn’t a discord competitor.
FWIW the title is wrong, they won’t require age verification for everyone, you just won’t be able to access 18+ servers and see porn unless you’re verified. And according to Discord the verification videos stay on-device and never gets sent to servers. If this is true then at least it’s better than the privacy nightmare of other platforms…
This was already launched last year for the UK and Australia, and now it’s going global.
Screw you for pushing this, UK and Australia.

Yeah, there are certainly options that offer nearly the same level of functionality (or at least, discounting the features most people don’t use), but none that are anywhere close as easy to set up.
