Brighter also means not having to drive them at their maximum so much… Yet another contributor to better lifespan - so better in tow dimensions.
Never going to happen. Got to keep those sheep. Buying new every few years. A long lasting product of quality is not in their playbook.

I think the most exciting part of this for me is the possible reduction in price for last gen OLED monitors.

Wouldn’t it have to be 5x cheaper to make up for the lost lifespan? (If you’d use it until it dies)

Honestly it depends on the price of these new models. I live check by check so buying 5x monitors over the years would be easier than paying a larger sum for a better one.
If I can afford these new ones I’ll most likely go with those, but judging by the prices of the latest and greatest right now, I doubt I will be able to.
