I read a Fediverse post simply stating that what makes Twitter bad is the people on Twitter. I do not believe in this oversimplification, even if I believe the Fediverse is a better place than Twitter. But it isn’t because of any people’s quality criterion, rather about general policy and empowering users and admins.

I feel bad for all of the people who think that silencing all criticism of any idea that they have is healthy.
On the other hand, it is their choice, and the fact that I don't need to live by the moderation decisions of some idiot I wouldn't even share a coffee with is indeed one of the biggest strengths of the Fediverse. People who are too neurotic to be able to tolerate seeing viewpoints they disagree with can build their little fort where they never have to hear a dissenting opinion, and Chads like us get the whole story regardless. If our ideas are strong enough to stand up to scrutiny then they will survive, and if someone comes to us with ideas that are stronger, we'll just have to change our minds.
I'm sure that'll be a shame.
