Following the EU Council’s vote last week to extend the controversial “Chat Control 1.0” (Regulation (EU) 2021/1232), civil society resistance is forming. Activists are calling on citizens to take immediate action and contact Members of the European Parliament via the platform fightchatcontrol.eu. While EU governments are pushing to continue the mass screening of private messages by US tech companies, the European Parliament’s position remains undecided.
