Companies only care when there is pressure. When I was laid off there was a woman literally in Africa at the moment of the layoff adopting a child, and she had just bought her home 2 weeks prior. Absolutely no notice, 2 weeks severance. Everyone rallied behind her, suddenly when we threatened to go to the press they “found” that they could afford to give her 6 months severance.
Fuck these executives. Absolutely no shame or morals.
