What’s interesting to me is that there is no “going back” with the footage. Since the black and white effect isn’t done in post, there’s no colored original.

While I was watching in cinema I thought it was only strange makeup and post-processing. But whole lighting was off. Skin texture was off. I love cinematic art like this: light, composition and color (or lack thereof) It’s for me one of most important aspects of both parts. Amazing idea and execution. Hats off…

That was an interesting scene. I wouldn’t have guessed it was filmed in IR but it did a really good job of portraying the Harkonnens as barbaric and otherworldly from a cultural perspective. It was pretty unsettling to watch for reasons that are difficult to articulate.
Overall the movie was fantastic. If not for a couple other scenes this IR bit likely would have been my favorite part.
