Discord know they replaced forums, so they're making your messages in discoverable servers searchable, which immediately raises one question: what about AI?

For the most part I think this is a good thing. They are right, Discord has largely replaced public forums for community spaces. The old forums were searchable and indexed by Google and other search engines so why not Discord? I have a Discord community for my open source project OpenRGB. I started it off of someone’s suggestion on a GitLab issue bacl when the project was just getting started and it’s grown to 20K+ users. While I’m not the biggest fan of relying on a proprietary platform like Discord, my attempts to set up alternate spaces on Matrix and Discord-like Spacebar did not get any traction. There’s now 6+ years of project history locked up in Discord conversations. I feel like Google being able to index that will ultimately help reduce seeing repeat questions. While I’m not the biggest fan of AI training on my data, for informative and instructional content I’d prefer the AI overview be giving out accurate and up-to-date information than outdated or inaccurate information. Discord is where questions get answered these days for a lot of communities so it’s where the accurate information is.

Agree, the information in those servers are already functionally public, and ought to be easily viewable
