I watched the first few seasons and its not too bad, but they have a bunch of spinoffs already. I think ncis hawaii just started in the last year or two.

To be fair, it was a really fun game. They did a great job with it. In fact, I’ve been itching to play it again.

Someone said that valve does not want to upgrade the Steamdecks cpu regularly that way it can act as a baseline for games to target.
I kind of like this approach. I think so many devs focus on making everything bleeding edge when most of us would be happy playing with low settings.
Maybe the steamdeck will lead to further optimizations to these games down the line and maybe games that are early in development will try to target the steamdeck for the minimum spec.
Starfield and bg3 were too far along in development when steamdeck game out for them to optimize for it.
I’ll be happy to see how it runs though.

- Comment on Is there any reason to have a Switch and a Steamdeck, 1 year ago:
That’s a good point. I have to remind myself, that there’s no point in emulating switch as I have one and most of the games have a pc version. So I can just play the pc version of the game.

Have you tried using the emudeck software? It seems that it kind of self configures.
- Comment on Is there any reason to have a Switch and a Steamdeck, 1 year ago:
I have the first switch version, so it was pretty easy to mod and the screen should be about the same as the steam decks. But I bed the oled switch is really nice to look at.

What kind of games are you playing? I think I’ll mostly be playing games on the older side and tons of emulation.

The 2016 MacBook Pro does not use the standard size ssd. I’ll double check, but Im pretty sure it’s the correct size.

Yeah, it seems that the switch can easily be replaced by the steam deck.
I think all the switch exclusive games that I care for emulate perfectly or at least good enough. I think the only game I’m not too sure about is tears of the kingdom, but I imagine the emulator devs give that game a lot of attention. So I’m sure it will be a very compatible game.

There is not any place where I can see one in person where I live. So sadly, I can’t get a feel for it.
But I’m thinking that the weight will not bother me too much, if it does, I think it’s preferable to the hand cramping and joint pain I get from the switch.
Additionally I’m just playing it in the house. I just don’t like being tied to the desktop.

Any emulation problems with tears of the kingdom?
I’ve already finished it on the switch, so not super concerned about occasional crashes. The game seems to auto save pretty often anyway.

Yeah, I did an inventory of my games and most are also on PC. The only exceptions that I care about are Mario odyssey, Metroid, and tears of the kingdom.

So far, I’ve been pretty lucky with switch emulation. When I really looked at it, just about all the games that are switch exclusive l, that I’m interested in work well.
Plus, I still have my switch incase it will not run.

My hands cramp and my thumb joints hurt with certain games on the switch. The left joycon broke (not stuck drift) so I replaced it and then like a week later the right joycon broke.
I am still kinda pissed at how expensive the joycons are. If I knew they were both going to break, I would have just bought a Steamdeck instead.

I just wish it was even an option in my country. If I’m a little ahead on bills this month, I think I’ll pick up the base model.
I’ll just add a ssd for canabalize my 2016 MacBook Pro for the ssd. Im pretty sure it’s compatible.
Until then, I’ll use my 512microsd card.

Thanks for the info. I think I’m mostly be playing emulators on it. But I can spend more money on joycons a that break so easily.

I’m wanting to buy a steam deck, but I wonder how close they are to releasing an updated version. Is there any indication that they will be doing regular hardware updates on it?

Some YouTube benchmarks say there there is no too little difference in game loading time. What sd card did you have before?
