Part of the Tiktok algo is already released on Github. I’m hoping instead of selling they actually make everything open.

This is from my former coworker who’s father was approached as an investor for Bytedance, so grain of salt.
But apparently the current CEO of Bytedance, Shou Zi Chew, interned at Meta and offered Zuckerberg a chance to invest into Bytedance in 2013 when he was gathering investors (assuming they’d be the American arm of the multinational). Zuck refused, saying that he didn’t think short form video is going to go anywhere, and basically laughed Zi Chew out of the room.
Fast forward to 2024, and Meta is spending the most money lobbying to get Tiktok to sell to a US company, with Meta trying to argue that they have the best infrastructure to “manage the technology” and data from Tiktok, Capcut, Lemon8, etc.
If all of this is true, I would also say “Fuck You” to Mark Cuckerberg and shut down the servers too. I mean, why the hell else am I on Lemmy if not for a CEO saying I can’t have my app?
- Comment on RANT : The thing i miss from reddit is that when a series or movie came out or ended there would be a big discussion threads. 11 months ago:
My friend group is 50/50 split like/hate on the season. I honestly have no idea what’s going on, and just watch the group chat on fire every time there’s a new episode.
They all agree that S1 is still the best though, so there’s that.

This’ll probably happen, anyone wanting to watch or stream on Twitch will probably just go through the Japanese servers. But Twitch isn’t that popular in Korea anyways, most of the Koreans on the platform have large foreign audiences.

Yeah, and it all started from a lawsuit between SK Telecom and Netflix because in 2020 people watching Squid Games in Korea used an unprecedented amount of bandwidth. Reuters article
Most telecom providers make deals with the big platforms regarding payment, but I guess S. Korea really wants Afreeca to be the only player in the streaming space. It could also be chaebol shenanigans.

Genuinely thank you for clarifying and yeah, I realize I’m kind of being part of the problem here, but that is literally all I know about the game because of the internet mob.
Every time I tried to ask anything about it on Reddit or Twitter I would get shouted down because of the “problematic content”, and that is all the topic would devolve into. The creator doesn’t deserve to be bullied or doxxed over it, even if the entire story WAS about incest. That really sucks.

Is this the…um…incest game? Is that why they’re being harassed? Or is it something else I’m ootl on?

PS Vita should have had a successor man, it was such a beast of a hand held for it’s time. It’s true fault was being against the Nintendo 3DS (and also Sony’s dumbass proprietary memory card prices for it). I pulled mine out a few months ago to play Hotline Miami.
