- Comment on [Discussion] Do you use any headphones with your Steam Deck? 25 minutes ago:
I don’t do voice chats on Deck. But when I only have a short time to play, I just use standard Apple earbuds that I’ve had for years.
When I get to game for more than an hour and feel like gaming on the couch, then I use my JBL Quantum TWS earbuds with the USB C adapter. These are primo ear buds, incredibly low latency, sound excellent, and are immersive with the noise canceling and noise isolating. Built in microphone, but I don’t use it for that purpose. I’d imagine for the price point the mic quality should be somewhere between good and great, depending on preference.
- Comment on What do you prefer for audio? Earphones, headphones, speakers? 2 months ago:
For my PC I prefer headphones for the immersion. When on the Steam Deck, I use in ear buds. I have a handful of Apple ear pods I’ve amassed over the years that I’ll use when I’m trying to get some quick gaming in. If I get a chance to really sit down and game for an hour or more, I use my JBL Quantum TWS with the USB C receiver. Total immersion, excellent sound quality, noise canceling, and incredible latency. Battery life could always be better, but they’ll comfortably get me through a solid gaming session on the Deck.
I don’t use the speakers on my Deck at all. I probably should play some games with it and see how I like it.

If I connect a new Logitech mouse with a dedicated AI button to this, will the two AIs collaborate, or will they fight each other for control to win my affection?
- Comment on What have you been playing lately? 4 months ago:
Oh yeah definitely. Haven’t played it in probably 20 years so it’s about time I revisit it and remember the legend.
I only remember bits and pieces but so far it’s fun. I’ve only gotten past the first boss and Frog left my party.

Chrono Trigger SNES.
It’s on my must play list for this year. RIP Akira Toriyama

Dang. Firefox, you were the chosen one! You were supposed to bring balance to the browser wars.
I’ll still keep using Firefox as i have for 20 years or whatever, but certainly will begin considering switching to a Firefox fork if this behavior continues.
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you currently playing on your deck? - October 2023 1 year ago:
My favorite Zelda. I need to revisit this one.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater! After what feels like 20 years, I realized how bad I am and how I barely remember where anything is. I will say I happily landed a 900 today.
I gotta practice, but I’m having a great time with it. Just wish it didn’t have always online for single player.
- Comment on Steam Deck/ROG Ally SSD Upgrades Coming from Western Digital 1 year ago:
True. I didn’t think about it, but I guess that should have been obvious since 2230 isn’t a common standard.
Meanwhile, i’ve had lots of WD drives without any issues. And some of my SSDs are TLC and QLC (before I knew about QLC longevity). I can’t imagine I’ll go wrong with these upcoming SN770 drives.

I decided to bite the bullet and preordered two 2 TB SSDs, which release officially next Friday on Sep 22nd. I haven’t used a Steam Deck, but the two I ordered just arrived today for my spouse and I (yay!). They’re a gift for us next month so I’ll have impressions by then.
While doing research, I only found that there was an SN740 model from WD that was only sold in some regions. Reddit link here: …kavin.rocks/…/2230_sn740_nvme_ssd_for_steam_deck…
People were happy with it so I figure the higher spec model is probably fine to use.
So far though, I only know it’s TLC NAND and basically similar to the published Corsair MP600 specs. I’d love to get my hands on MLC or SLC, but I don’t think it exists for that capacity (nor would it be affordable). My guess is by the time an affordable MLC or SLC arrives in 2280 config, Steam Deck 2 will be out and probably use a more common SSD form factor.
