- Comment on Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition trilogy on PC gets a classic lighting update from the mobile version 1 week ago:
Playing them on my Xbox 360 is literally a better experience, that’s how much the remasters suck! Plus they still have all the iconic music. I got a wireless adapter and can even use my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller…
- Comment on The Forever Winter devs answer complaints about water scarcity... by adding thieves who invade your HQ and steal your water 2 weeks ago:
“Even when you’re not playing” are the 5 words to guarantee I’ll never play that game. If my base can be invaded and my resources stolen because I’m not playing it often enough, your game is actually toxic and psychologically exploiting your players.
- Comment on LG TVs start showing ads on screensavers 1 month ago:
I’ve heard it will hop open networks to try to update. Doesn’t sound that farfetched in 2024. If you’re really concerned, you could disable the wireless adapter…

The extra dimensions are time and inception. I now know less about it than when I started.

I forget, was this the one where they did almost no marketing for it, then were surprised it underperformed? No one I know has even heard of it…

The “merits” of letting giant, greedy ISP corporations steamroll the rights of The People?

Same. I didn’t think I’ve ever heard the term used as a verb, it’s always “phishing”!

I’m sorry, I can’t do that.

Oh no, my Linux* OS is infected! With Windows.
*Many restrictions apply
Seriously, there’s so many free (as in freedom and beer) and private OS/kernels out there, don’t go for the locked-down one from the company that wants to sell all your data…

I like Podcast Addict, but yeah, there are some guys choices out there!
- Comment on Google Fit APIs get shut down in 2025, might break fitness devices 6 months ago:
The issue here is the new thing has a shittier dev experience and less features.
I’m so tired of it happening that I avoid investing time and data into Google products now. YouTube Music is worse than Google (Play) Music, Gmail is worse than Inbox, YouTube Music is worse than Google Podcasts… The list goes on.

I’m assuming this was sarcasm.
If not, I must have missed the past where they became a nonprofit…
- Comment on Why the US government’s overreliance on Microsoft is a big problem 7 months ago:
The world’s over reliance on Microsoft is a big problem. That’s why they can make deeply unpopular changes to their OS/browser/office program and must companies and governments and users just accept it…

I mean, I like Wikipedia, but are they considered a trusted, stable, independent reviewer of news sources? What’s their track record?
- Comment on Jon Stewart Says ‘Daily Show’ Return Was Prompted by Wanting to Have a “Place to Unload Thoughts” Ahead of 2024 Election 9 months ago:
I’m sorry, that’s not how this works. I never advocated for him once. You are the one who said he:
“[would] make a fucking awful president.”
“[Wouldn’t be] be able to steer the American political system in a way that would benefit most Americans.” As opposed to Trump, his likely opponent…??
“He’d mostly be yet another demagogue, just for the left instead of the right.”
Do you have any sources for those, or are they just baseless opinions, like mine and everyone else’s…?

“[Taxpayers] pay for that!” is a very misleading way to phrase it. State, Federal, sales, etc… You do realize they’re going to collect taxes no matter what, yes? I’m not getting them back! And if money already on-hand isn’t used to help literal hero firefighters in the form of the benefits they were promised for saving lives in the wake of the biggest terrorist attack against the country, then what fuck should we spend it on!? Nothing?? It’s fine if you believe that, but it’s a totally different discussion…

- Comment on The unexpected triumph of Kieran Culkin, after the long shadow of Macaulay and a chaotic family of seven siblings 9 months ago:
I know this article is about Kieran, who’s great, but this quote struck me:
Today, with a band — The Pizza Underground — a podcast and two young children, Macaulay Culkin describes himself as “basically a 30-something-year-old retiree.”
He’s 43. And the article came out this year!
