- Comment on RimWorld - Odyssey will bring spaceship building, exploration and a lot more content 3 weeks ago:
Content wise, they did this in Anomaly as well. It implemented various horror mods, but tweaked versions of them.
I think the value is that the DLCs add more core systems that themselves can be implemented in mods. The ideas may come from mods, but they do it with their own spin and by adding new scaffolding to help the mod scene grow. That’s generally worth it in my eyes.
- Comment on Ocean 4X strategy sim Endless Legend 2 will release in early access this August 3 weeks ago:
The ocean changing is the core mechanic in the game. I’d say it fits, just not in the way you expect “ocean” to fit.
- Comment on Humble Bundle have launched their 2025 Pride Month games bundle 4 weeks ago:
IGN bought them a couple of years ago.
Besides aliming down the sliders, they locked the “minimum to get all of it” price for bundles at like $25, and made it so the “minimum” tip to Bundle at like $7.50, up from $1. They also hid the charity sliders behind more obscure UI elements so people mostly forget that selecting the share of the bundle going to charity was a big part of the experience.
- Comment on Nintendo Switch 2 — Nvidia says it has 10x the graphics power of original Switch 2 months ago:
The “10x” is via AI created fake frames too. Its a common Nvidia marketing trope, so not suprising.
Its a 7 year old console at this point, so gpu power is way up, but Nintendo always goes cheap with their hardware. I would guess actual GPU improvements are more like 3x-5x, which puts it in line with maybe the last gen of other consoles.
- Comment on Of course Date Everything! got Matthew Mercer to voice a hot, anthropomorphic D20 3 months ago:
Yes indeed, but this seems exactly up his alley. Very whimsical theme, lots of other great voice actors involved.

Fixing city skylines 2 would be a good start.
- Comment on First trailer live for Skull Horde where you command an army of dead soldiers as a floating skull 3 months ago:
Looks like a medieval riff on despots game. Hopefully the balance is solid and it has some longevity.
- Comment on Diablo speedrunners searched 2.2 billion random dungeon seeds to debunk a two-decade old speedrun record 4 months ago:
I ujderstand it from a “if every single level was the optional level, this what the best possible rin would be level.” Tool assisted speed running before that was a thing.
The fact that levels in that spliced game were faked makes it all pointless through.
- Comment on Firaxis reveal Sid Meier's Civilization VII system requirements for Linux 6 months ago:
Popular distro or one based on it. Pop-os is Ubuntu based and has always worked well for gaming. Its maintainted bt system76, a solid hardware vendor.
The fact they pulled all the snap bloat out also is a win win.
- Comment on The Black Friday sale for the most popular gaming system on the planet doesn't actually have any games on sale...? 7 months ago:
Slay the spire, balatro, stardew valley. All one time payment, all amazing.
- Comment on Behaviour Interactive has acquired Darkest Dungeon developer Red Hook Studios 9 months ago:
Redhook made two amazing games, the second being a tremendous leap forward from the first.
It’s sad that that innovation is likely over, but at least those will stand the test of time.
- Comment on Risk Of Rain 2 creators “still believe that Gearbox is heading in the right direction” despite troubles with recent DLC 9 months ago:
They only paid 4 million for hoppo games? That’s an amazingly small amount for the rights to a niche but popular franchise.
- Comment on FTC accuse Microsoft of breaking promise not to raise Game Pass prices after Activision Blizzard deal 11 months ago:
This FTC is incredibly aggressive. Lina khan is the head, a person who made waves in academia by basically redefining antitrust laws in the digital age, with a specific animus for Amazon. Shes led with FTC with teeth
During her tenure, the FTC has pushed to ban non-compete agreements, filed lawsuits against health care companies engaging in anti-competitive practices, and launched a high-profile lawsuit against Amazon.[3] In 2022, the FTC and the DOJ’s anti-trust division blocked a record number of mergers on anti-trust grounds.[4] ABC News described her as taking a more aggressive approach on anti-trust, and earning some conservative supporters during her confirmation and tenure.[1]
- Comment on Star Citizen is free for the next few days, please don't accidentally buy a $300 spaceship 11 months ago:
Isnt this the same company that got called out for how wrong and out of date its public calendar was, who then committed to a project improving the public calendar tools, which was then also incorrectly tracked and posted on its public calendar?

Team fortress 2 : episode 1
- Comment on Gang Beasts-meets-Stardew Valley farming game Southfield delays release date three days before launch to look after devs’ ‘health and wellbeing’ 1 year ago:
The days after release are probably the most hectic in the whole development cycle. No studio has enough QA to match all those players testing the game and finding breaking bugs.
The scramble to fix all these is insane, as they are happening during your “big money” days. If you’ve had to crunch up to release, the days after may just ducking end you.

- Comment on Paradox Interactive Closes Tectonic Studio The Same Week It Canceled Its First Game, Life By You 1 year ago:
According to the lead there, they found out via the public announcement. No one at Paradox had the decency to actually let them know first.

- Comment on The Don't Starve devs' new cutesy co-cop dungeon crawler is out in early access today 1 year ago:
Tencent owns the developer too.
The team may be the same, there may be no undue pressure, but we wont ever know now.
- Comment on The Don't Starve devs' new cutesy co-cop dungeon crawler is out in early access today 1 year ago:
They are 100% owned by tencent now, by the by.
Tencent tends to be hands off, but it’s no longer the klei of old. They aren’t an indie anymore.
- Comment on Fine. Just combine your powers without me. 1 year ago:
There was a “power glove” episode that did this i think? It gave whichever ring bearer who had it like 100x power with their ring. Of course it was evil, and i want to say it was mai tai and the “heart” ring that won the day, but I can’t be assed to find the episode.

- Comment on UAW announces push to organize nonunion plants after strike wins [Lauren Irwin | 11/29/23 | The Hill] 1 year ago:
I sure hope they are bobbing and juking like they did with the misinformation about the strike timing. It would be great to talk about one plant and unionize another suddenly.
