That’s what I meant. Haven’t had 64GB in my deck for a long time.

Or the lowest GB version and upgrade - though the 16GB is no longer available, so I’m guessing that’s less economical than it was.

I haven’t used consoles for gaming in so long I forgot about that haha, good point.

You probably do have a point there. The SteamDeck did manage to make it to the point where people that couldn’t give a rats ass about Linux have picked them up, so I’d say it’s possible, though maybe not likely.

Twice as expensive? Cheaper than $700 is not twice as expensive as $500.
Sure, it’d be nice if it were $500 or less, but I don’t think it’s possible. PS is able to sell hardware at a loss to then recoup that loss in game sales. The Steam Machine is a PC. You don’t have to buy anything from Steam to use it after you buy it. It cannot be sold at a loss - though I wouldn’t be surprised to see game deals during sales to make it a better value for the same cost or something.
Moving from fact to opinion, I think the steam machine, for under $700, could be considered a better value than a PS or Xbox, for two reasons. The first is Steam Sales - you’ll probably save a couple hundred bucks as compared to buying the same games on a console. Secondly, and more importantly, it’s not only a gaming console for your living room, but also a PC for your living room as, when combined with the Steam Controller, I can’t think of a better way to use a full desktop on my TV. The SteamDeck Track pads make it totally practical to use a normal desktop without a mouse and keyboard. They’re amazing for mousing, scrolling, and typing. I’ll probably buy it for that alone - though the lack of support for DRM protected media might force me to continue using my Xbox as a media console - though I might also tell media platforms where to shove their DRM, becuase it obviously isn’t working if I can acquire their media from other sources.
Tl;dr: it will be more expensive, as it can’t be sold at a loss - but cheaper games and the fact that it’s a PC for your TV could make the additional cost make sense.

I think this will also be great for couch gaming with games that weren’t intended to be used with a controller, much like the SteamDeck. The track pads open up so much flexibility.

I do wonder how low-power it is. Like is it just low power because the screen is off, or are some part of SteamOS shutting down as well to save power.

I’ve been on beta for years with no issues, if that helps.

Ahh, yeah, I’d guess the ecosystem isn’t that large yet, as updates roll out to Android devices n such. I haven’t really tested mine yet. I’ve been meaning to.
One time I got a notification that someone was tracking me with a tracker. It was my own wallet that is registered to my account lol.

How do you mean not worth it? The pebblebees are working fine for me.
- Comment on The terrible tragedy of a stolen Steam Deck 1 year ago:
Yeah, it’s cool that Google has finally got their shit together with that. What’s fascinating is that Google and Apple worked together to provide cross device notifications if an Air tag is following an Android or a Google FindMy tracker is following an iPhone.
- Comment on The terrible tragedy of a stolen Steam Deck 1 year ago:
It works like Apple’s FindMy network, mostly through Bluetooth I believe. Every single phone running android (and with the setting enabled) can ping the location of your trackables. It’s just like Tile, except with a network of every single Android device instead of just Tile users.
I’m not sure what you mean by enable it, the first step would be to purchase a compatible trackable. Currently there are only two brands making them, unless others have started now. Pebblebee seems to be the more popular ones, and that’s what I went with.
If you want to play around with the app, you can download it here, but there won’t be much to do in it until you have trackables.

Heads up, Google now has a FindMy network like Apple’s that’ll update much more frequently than a Tile due to the sheer number of users. The downside, as compared to a tile, is that it’ll notify the thief that a tracker is following them.

Yeah, I wanted you to elaborate on that statement 'cause it doesn’t make any sense.

Really wish people would stop adding support for EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar, etc.
Uh, what?

What is a handheld if it isn’t a device that’s used while holding it in your hands?
- Comment on Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 1 year ago:
The GTAOnline situation is super wack, but R* hasn’t stopped delivering great single player campaigns, well technically only one - RDR2 - since introducing shark cards, and it is still completely separate from RDROnline and the paid currency. I won’t pre-order GTAVI still, even once it comes to PC, but I’m going to pick it up if the reviews are halfway decent.
- Comment on Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 1 year ago:
GTAOnline has suffered from feature pile-on. I think there’s an official software development term for it, but I can’t remember it. It’s fun, aside from the astronomical grind and push for shark cards. Even considering that, getting into it as a new player is wild.

Yeah, I haven’t used it, but I found a third party plugin thing. That’s about all I know about it.

There’s a Seperate plugin thing I found specifically for SteamDeck. That’s all I know about it.

I needed something with a lot of surface area so my drink didn’t spill on my bed, and hey, it works.
