Polarization and an us-vs-them attitude has permeated the culture of the United States. IMO it’s one way the ruling elites keep us working class people too busy fighting each other to do anything about the corrupt corporations that run everything.
One good way to lower the temperature is to do what you’re doing: practice empathy. Folks should always try to empathize with others, especially people they don’t agree with. Nobody thinks of themselves as the villain of their own story.
It’s helpful if we make a good faith effort to try to understand where other folks are coming from, and try to meet them where they are. Easier said than done in this “Twitter wars” environment, but a necessary tool in digging us out.

I have noticed those as well. I wonder if it could be pandemic related? Like did we get 2-3 years worth of new drivers in one season?

Yup. “Corporate culture” is really just another word for “cult”.

I keep hoping–perhaps naively so–for a major backlash against this. Sometimes consumers have power, and sometimes they don’t. But maybe we’ll all get fed up with this bullshit and start just dropping any and all unnecessary subscriptions from our lives. The big problem is when a brand becomes synonymous with a product (like fucking Adobe and ProTools, for two examples).

If you are lactose intolerant, you may find this entertaining. Note, I am not recommending you try it. But it’s fun to watch this guy try it.

Evil genius marketing, working as it always does. The kids don’t know any better, so they are being exploited and conditioned to think the horrible new normal is just the way things have to be. And most parents are too tired and busy to find better alternatives.

You, a kid at the time, understood far more about learning than the pretentious gasbag did. Anyone who would stomp on a good question like that has no business working in education.
- Comment on Do guys that tip cam models hundreds of dollars week after week think that model actually likes them? 1 year ago:
They are lonely and desperate for any kind of interaction with another human. Because sex work is illegal and dangerous, it creates a market for this kind of stuff. It’s sad. People need attention, touch, and love from other humans as much as they need food and water. But many people are unattractive and/or socially inept… but do have some money. And society is largely cruel and heartless towards outsiders. It’s hard for most to accept, but many factors outside of a person’s control can force them into a lonely life of rejection and non-acceptance by average folks. People find all kinds of things to fill these voids. Paying cam models is just one of many coping mechanisms, and maybe not as self-destructive as drugs, booze, food, etc.
