  That seems to be the vibe. I’m mostly looking at the food content and one thing I really like is when someone posts a video or photo of a dish they’ve made, people reply with pictures of their own versions of the same thing and heap compliments on each other.

  You, like, absolutely need to use a translator. There’s no in app translation and it’s primarily Chinese people posting and replying in Chinese. But Google Translate works almost perfectly. I have had a number of back and forth conversations and while I’m sure “my” Chinese looks off, I’ve never had a conversation break down because a reply doesn’t make sense.

  That would be a shame. I’m really enjoying the app, sharing pictures of food and recipes with people half a globe away is really cool. And there’s a lot of interest in fishing in China, it’s cool to see their techniques, what they do the same, what they do differently.

  And everyone is just so nice! They’ve built a really positive community and culture on RedNote and it’s unique to be able to see that kind of thing work, at least compared to American social media.

  I get why they don’t want US influence and what-not and I could see how a bunch of Americans treating it like Tiktok would be problematic for maintaining the vibe they’ve cultivated, but it’s a really refreshing change of pace from other social media.

  I think that’s the logic behind it, but I get better stream quality using the dedicated box vs the app. Plus, can’t do the Moonlight thing over the app, as far as I’m aware.

  Ngl I really love the Steamlink. I loaded Moonlight on it and it lets me play Xbox gamepass games on the couch from the PC too.

  You gotta either hardwire it with ethernet cables or set it to run on dedicated wifi channels to get a good stream quality, though, and it’s better suited for turn-based games.

  Star Trek The Next Generation Final Unity is one of the best Star Trek games made to date. It’s a point and click adventure game that essentially has you going through a long episode of Star Trek with a few different set pieces and plots.

  I think many video games miss the point of Star Trek and fail to capture the spirit of the show, but this one tells a story that could have been a handful of episodes.

  Baffling that they canceled the project when the target audience for such a game is so hungry for something other than an EA product.

  I woulda thought that Paradox would have the right stuff to do a Sims-esque game considering their experience with character driven emergent storytelling in Crusader Kings.

  Awww, kinda sorry to see the kimono parted here, I liked thinking it was some half human half beast monstrosity from beyond this world that happened to have 8 limbs in addition to a lion head.

  Still, great boss fight and wonderful design and music.
