If Google search to see if is a Linux thing. Sometimes streaming sites limit resolution on Linux for some reason.
- Comment on Decky "Pause Games" plugin got rid of audio static I got resuming games from sleep 2 months ago:
I had it on some games a lot, but there was a steamos update that addressed this a while back and it mostly fixed the issue. Now if I get static, it usually goes away after a few seconds or after I sleep and wake again. It’s also much more rare to happen.

That’s really true. I agree 100% Valve is playing the long game and is really doing a great job bringing Linux to the average user.

It’s too bad you’re having trouble with it. I’ve had almost 0 trouble with the dock. There was one instance where I couldn’t get video out, but it was fixed after restarting it twice.

Bg3 runs pretty good on it. There are some slowdowns, but it doesn’t really matter in this kind of game.
I got obsessed with that game, but kind of burnt out after I finished act 2.

I’m not surprised. The steamdeck is the only way that I game any longer. I think their approach to hardware upgrades not being frequent is a great idea. It lets devs have target hardware for the games to work on.
I couldn’t be happier with my steamdeck and will get the next one on day one.
- Comment on How good is the Steam Deck really? (Not a gamer) 2 months ago:
I love my steam deck and it is blue the only machine I use to game. I even use it as my desktop computer when I plug it into my monitors with a usbc hub.
Is a pretty decent machine.
- Comment on Path of Exile 2 Is Being Optimized For the Steam Deck 5 months ago:
I love this about the steam deck, I just installed cyberpunk and Witcher 3 and both games have a graphics option for steam deck.
I think the steamdeck not releasing new models every year is also a good idea as it gives devs a specific hardware to optimize for.
This also will make sure devs optimize games so that they can run on lower end hardware.
It’s really a win for everyone.

Everyone is just going to do what they did last time…

Could they do a cyberpunk game like this? That could be cool. Maybe something space related?

So, don’t buy a feel in the next few years as the talented people are going to leave.
- Comment on Utah Lawmakers Just Adopted Porn Filtering Again 8 months ago:
If they have filters they must be turned on at point of sale.
I think this bill would have the opposite effect. It would be safer to just remove the filters and risk a bug or error having it turned on.

- Comment on Google says the AI-focused Pixel 8 can’t run its latest smartphone AI models 8 months ago:
I get it, this seems to be an instance where corporate interests and consumer interests align. I’m sure it will still collect a bunch of data from you, but that would happen anyway.
- Comment on Google says the AI-focused Pixel 8 can’t run its latest smartphone AI models 8 months ago:
Gpt4all already lets you do this. You need to have at leave 8gb of unused memory to run it and it can be a bit slow, but it works well for the most part.
This way you can use gpt without sharing your data online and it will work without internet access as well.
The ones you run locally can be uncensored meaning, it will not avoid certain subjects that google and open ai deem not good to talk about.

Or in normal speak, “Reddit is going to fill themselves with ads.”
- Comment on What "Great on Deck" titles have you been enjoying? 9 months ago:
I discovered this game like two years ago and it got me super addicted. I can’t believe how sucked in I got. I’ve had trouble getting into a second play through, I am not sure why. Maybe it is because the mystery is gone.
- Comment on What "Great on Deck" titles have you been enjoying? 9 months ago:
Baldur’s Gate 3 is addicting. I think I am getting near the end of the main story, but I am not 100% sure. Pausing the game on the SteamDeck is the only reason I am able to sink so many hours into this game.
I’ll say it again, SteamDeck is the only platform that I will game on from here on out. It is exactly what I have always wanted. A PC that acts like a console. I love the handheld aspect as I can be on the sofa or in bed with my wife while gaming.
- Comment on Why more PC gaming handhelds should ditch Windows for SteamOS - Ars Technica 10 months ago:
It seems to be a hit randomly and depends on the game, but I only play around the house, so it’s never been a big deal. I also try not to suspend unless I’ve saved already just in case, but I’m willing to take the risk.
- Comment on Why more PC gaming handhelds should ditch Windows for SteamOS - Ars Technica 10 months ago:
The suspend feature is wildly important for me.
If I had to boot a game and shut it down each time, I’d only pickup the device when I had set aside time to game.
Since I can suspend and resume whenever, I pickup my steam deck all the time. I can play in the car and just suspend when we arrive or I can play for a few minutes while waiting for a meeting to start.
I can play while my wife gets ready.
Sometimes meets get canceled or there is traffic, so gaming sessions can really stretch out into a longer play time.
If I couldn’t suspend, I wouldn’t have played in those moments.
