Peasants mad that they’re treated like peasants by the aristocracy and their guards.
- Comment on Elon Musk email to X staff: ‘we’re barely breaking even’ 4 weeks ago:
It had actually just started breaking even, but all the experts agreed it had effectively reached market cap and thus would never take in the kind of cash its valuation implied from a purely financial perspective.
Then Elon significantly overpaid for it.
At least if you don’t factor in narrative control as value, if you view it as an investment in ending American democracy it was probably a decent purchase.

Doesn’t matter, it did what he needed it to do.

They changed it but you could always just have them as definitely-not-Nazis.
- Comment on Indiana Jones doesn't "endorse" Nazis, Bethesda assure, just in case you were confused by him repeatedly murdering them 3 months ago:
You’re misunderstanding the argument, but that’s just the nature of brief forum exchanges.
Think of it as a continuous depiction of the Nazis as hyper-competent or full of geniuses unintentionally plays into the supremacy narrative, even when Joe Everyman is gunning them down. I don’t agree that Wolfenstein is pro-Nazi but it is a factor in public perception that creators need to consider when repeated in a hundred different games or movies.
Even just repeating things like “At least Mussolini made the trains run on time” plays into it, especially when it’s a lie, just like the Wunderwaffe programs or the Nazi “miraculous economic recovery” which was just making people work longer hours and deficit spending.

Well, that or America not electing FDR in 1936.
- Comment on Ubisoft Director Claims "Non-Decent Humans" Are Wishing For Company's Demise 4 months ago:
I think it actually reveals a pretty fundamental aspect of the neoliberal viewpoint, that “providing jobs,” no matter exploitative they are, or how corrupt the industry is, is a fundamental good.

I’m going to laugh when the 2034 Chinese-American War sees the US Navy get wiped out on Day 1 to a drone swarm following hacked Starlink connections. Bitches just don’t learn.
