Yeah that’s my problem with the “at least its free for people with impulse control” angle.
The people who dont will buy it, and the company will begin catering to those people for profit if the company itself doesnt have the impulse control to just take the money and keep making the same game.
If theres a time skip, but the game doesnt require the time skip, less people will buy it. Incentivize the time skip and the free players suffer. So even though you dont have to buy it, your experience is worse.
Id rather a sub so i can unsub when im done playing and my time is honored.

There won’t be any battle passes in Guild Wars 3. There will be paid expansions, paid cosmetics, paid account services, and paid “time-saving convenience items”. A less generous interpretation of Johanson’s post would be that some of these things are manifestations of the “hidden” subscription mentality he’s knocking.
So we dont like live service crap because they just shifted the monthly sub to other things. Anyway, buy the cosmetics/services/‘time saving items’ from us! Def not the same live service bullshit those other guys are doing lmao.

My response to google or any of their adjacents is “wait people are seeing ads?”
Even though i know that yes, the majority do just let the ads blare into their brain. I just don’t engage with them to a point that it surprises me people still have energy to complain about em.
Recently told one of my friends about ublock and he was flabbergasted. He’d been just raw dogging the internet since its creation. Was more surprised he never stopped to think “maybe it doesn’t have to be like this.”
