- Comment on Thousands of CEOs admit AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago 3 days ago:
Maybe. Until they start calling this out for the farce it is, I’m gonna blame them as much as the journalists pushing the hype.
- Comment on Thousands of CEOs admit AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago 3 days ago:
The invention of certain technologies at a certain time had effects that didn’t match the prediction and they don’t know why. Someday somebody will figure it out and the model will be better.
Also known as “being wrong”. Being wrong is fine. It’s great even. It means that there’s more to discover and improve. Calling it a “paradox” is a pathetic, self-serving attempt to save face when presented with evidence that makes them look bad. Instead of saying “We don’t know, but we’re working on it,” they pass it off as unsolvable.

Economists: “We can’t be wrong. The results are obviously a paradox. Yeah, that’s the answer.”
I guess it takes years of study and experience to just double down over and over again instead of admitting the “miracle” tech you’re hyping accomplishes a fraction of what you’re trying to make it do. Very illuminating to us plebs that wouldn’t know better.
- Comment on Grand Theft Auto 6 publisher Take-Two have seemingly laid off their head of AI and several of the department's staffers 2 weeks ago:
Edited AI to GenAI for the pedants out there
Except GenAI/GAI stands for “General Artificial Intelligence”, not Generative. The latter term was coined when the former was used to point out how much of a scam “AI” was, to capitalize on the ignorant not knowing the difference and conflating the two.
- Comment on 'Any update is a bonus not a right': Peak devs snap back at ungrateful players demanding more updates, 'Neither us or Aggro Crab are live service studios' 2 weeks ago:
“Snaps back”. Fuck off, pcgamer. At best, the headline fans the drama, but it sounds more like they agree with the spoiled idiots raging about a game not providing free content forever. This culture that’s developed of players feeling entitled to the dev’s endless effort is so shitty. We really need to shift back to the reasonable expectation that what you pay for is what you get. More is great, but not a given. If that’s not enough, go play some season pass bullshit that’ll drain you drip by drip.

As I understand it, it also leaves your system wide open to malware to just come right in. I’ve seen statements that it should only be used during a game session to minimize risk, but that’s still a risk, and you know some people won’t do that.

Typical L for Brava
- Comment on Praise Transmog 4 weeks ago:
What a weird, unecessary gatekeep. Why the hell does it matter what a player wants to look like? It has zero affect on the game, far from “destroying” it.

Maybe they should have been with their kid and not trying to kill me, then.

This is fully possible through SSH without 3rd party plugins, even on Windows. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QSpdKcXUww

- Comment on 'No one verified the evidence': Woman says AI-generated deepfake text sent her to jail 3 months ago:
Also how would AI have sent a SMS to his phone from her?
It’s almost like that’s my point.
- Comment on 'No one verified the evidence': Woman says AI-generated deepfake text sent her to jail 3 months ago:
she said her boyfriend created an AI-generated text that called him names and made disparaging comments.
Texts would show up on phone records.

After eight months of legal wrangling by her attorney, prosecutors dropped the bond violation charge against her.
How was this not handled within 24 hours by checking the fucking phone records??
- Comment on Steam Deck gets a new low-power screen-off downloads mode 5 months ago:
Well obviously.
You may be surprised how not obvious this is to some people, hah. But your suggestions are interesting. I feel like Valve is just constantly adding surprising features with the on-board tech. Would be cool if that stuff got added.
- Comment on Steam Deck gets a new low-power screen-off downloads mode 5 months ago:
Screen off ≠ off. The deck will always have to be on and out of sleep mode to do anything like that.
- Comment on 'This is definitely my last TwitchCon': High-profile streamer Emiru was assaulted at the event, even as streamers have been sounding the alarm about stalkers and harassment 5 months ago:
Pointing out who is likely to be a fan of hers isn’t “blaming the victim”. It’s being realistic about what she has to deal with. It shouldn’t happen, but bad people exist. Can’t ignore that.
- Comment on Layoffs hit CNET as its parent company goes on a buying spree 8 months ago:
“You need to cut the fat so we can buy more companies that we will use as ballast just like you.”
Like, I get some companies will feel like they don’t have a choice if they want to stay open, but man…it really feels like a terrible idea to sell out to these people. They don’t care about anything except their own bottom line, and every asset they pick up will be used and discarded with that in mind.

I didn’t get a light until the gb color. It held into port well enough, but yeah, that thing chewed through batteries as well. I was so happy when I got an sp.
