- Comment on Skyblivion devs are "on the hunt" for some "final, vital" veteran hands to get the Oblivion remake mod over the line this year 2 days ago:
It’s tough, they started this project well over 10 years ago. A rotation of modders rather than a full professional developer team just isn’t going to be able to pump out something that quick.
The saddest part is that Skyrim is now almost 15 year old, which makes it 3x older than the difference between Skyrim and oblivion. The engine is older than the time difference between the release date of both games.
- Comment on New Study Finds Air Conditioners Will Exacerbate Climate Change As Planet Warms 4 weeks ago:
Very true. I looked around out of curiosity because they make pretty substantial claims about greenhouse emissions from the A/C units themselves, but other sources claimed the emissions were a combination dirty fuel usage for energy generation and that they partially come from leakage of refrigerants.
That said, if most or all consumer electricity is provided by renewables (mine is!), the entire first half of that claim is invalidated. Though I guess they don’t expect developing countries to jump on pure solar/wind development right away.

This study seems to assume that we will power basically none of the oncoming air conditioning with renewable energy and that air conditioners are just going to always be leaking.
- Comment on Google's AI Deletes User's Entire Hard Drive, Issues Groveling Apology: "I Cannot Express How Sorry I Am" 3 months ago:
“issues groveling apology”
Telling the llm that it should apologize doesn’t count as groveling. It cannot express how sorry it is because it cannot be sorry.
The fediverse’s infatuation with finding any and every possible criticism of AI is draining. In one breath, people will hit you with the “schrodinger’s immigrant” quip, and then tell you that AI is completely worthless and unwanted but also somehow too powerful and dangerous.
