- Comment on Valve give more detail on Steam Controller reservations - you'll be waiting a while 1 week ago:
There really is an easy solution to this. Firmware locking, like how phones do. Like how if you steal my iPhone, you can’t use it because it’s tied to my Apple account, and you don’t have the password.
Tie each Steam Controller purchase to a Steam Account. Lock it to that account for one year. After the year, the user can connect the Steam Controller to their computer running Steam, and unlock the firmware.
This would make it so the scalpers wouldn’t be able to resell them. Well, they still would, but once word gets out that it’s locked to their account for a whole year, two things will happen. One, they’re gonna lie and say it’s unlocked and they’ll rip a bunch of people off and no one will trust them. Two, they will offer to be your agent, you will need to give them access to your Steam account so they can buy it for you and then sell it to you.
The problem with the latter, and the Steam controller in general, is the thing is $100, and with everything going up, you can get a better controller for half that or less — you just don’t get the trackpads. But, give it time. Someone else will add them, and then you can get basically the same thing without contributing directly to Gaben’s eighth yacht, or his ego.
- Comment on Xbox Gaming CSO Pitches Ads in Games as "Affordable Alternative" 2 weeks ago:
Here’s the thing though: they’re gonna run ads, and GamePass Ultimate isn’t going back to $15 and the Series X isn’t going back to $500.
Sony can say “no ads on PlayStation”, but they will just jack prices up again. They aren’t the good guys here.

Sorry for the late reply… just saw this. IIRC one of the “Legendary Edition” fixes for 2 was speeding up the scanner. There’s a button you hold and the scanner moves more quickly. However, the zones are quite sensitive.
Andromeda has the same feature, but worse. When you’re in the Mako (or whatever they called it, I already forgot), you can scan for minerals, but only if the mining computer is open (RB/R1), and the screen is way too big. I’ve never seen a mineral register over half. Crafting sucked in Andromeda (and honestly in all of ME) in general; once you’d researched a thing, you could just buy it, or more likely find 0-2 copies a day out in the field, and you just sell what you don’t need. Once I realized that, I stopped hunting for minerals, and I only researched, never crafted (outside of like 2 missions that required it).
- Comment on Do you think we should have an index of how ethical gaming companies are? 2 months ago:
Wild guess: aggregated score card with individual reviewers having a score card. Let users vote up a reviewer to make their vote count more (or down for less) or ignore/block a reviewer to make theirs not count. That way, the user’s own views weigh the score card.

Mass Effect. I didn’t get far in the original. Played the Legendary Edition trilogy all the way through. Went back to the original. It’s the tank (Mako). It dies in like 2-3 hits and you get less XP for kills in it. It’s just not fun and they never fixed it in the original. Legendary fixes it. At the very least, it’s balanced to the game’s difficulty setting. Where in the original it’s stuck on the hardest setting, but only for the Mako missions.
Original came out in like 2007, Legendary came out in like 2016. Might be off by a year or two with one or both.
- Comment on "People were just not ready for" Starfield, says game's composer as he talks "visionary" Todd Howard 3 months ago:
The game is what wasn’t ready. They shipped without a map for about a year. They ignored game breaking bugs posted to their community Discord (the official one they moderate). One notable one that was still unpatched after a year of being notified was how in random ship encounters, the leader of the enemies would be aligned to Constellation, meaning if you or anyone in your group killed them, all your allies turn against you. That should have been an easy fix. They just did not care.

Wait hold up, wasn’t Sherry like 10 when she met Leon in RE2 back on the PS1?
- Comment on Valve accused of "letting children and adults alike illegally gamble" via loot boxes in New York state lawsuit 3 months ago:
The Super Bowl (American football championship game) promotes betting. What’s the problem? Is gambling legal in the United States outside of Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Native American reservations, or isn’t it? They need to make up their mind about that. Either allow it everywhere and post gambling help lines like the casinos do… or don’t allow it.
I’m not a fan, personally. I don’t gamble. Period. I have no real opinion on whether it should be legal though, where I am, where you are, or in the state of New York.
