Good luck with that

There is no good way to write any criminal law
-
As a condition of sale, It would potentially completely fuck steams reputation.
-
Every steam critic would use it to attack steam.
-
And, there are countries where you can’t legally do stuff like this as a condition of sale. Ie, there are ownership laws after sale that specifically apply to a lot of things. Ie, you keep saying civil law, but in some countries you can’t legally add stuff like this to sale contracts
-
They could just limit 1 per customer and require a deposit to stay in the queue. And offer something beneficial like a free game which directly is added to the account that orders. But that screws people who are getting them as gifts. Or prioritize people based on library size for the initial orders
-
The reason I said write the example, is because what is the penalty going to be? Cancel their account? Disable the hardware?
Again, it’s not a good idea. You’re trying to solve a problem that normally doesn’t exist, won’t in 6 months and will cause a much bigger one.

write an example
The reason there is no good way to write this law.
When I say loopholes, I mean ones that further harm people affected by scalpers
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 5 days ago:
Yeah… Ok… Let me know how that law will work exactly (provide some wording) that doesn’t also screw over people inadvertently.
Also, it would have to implemented worldwide instantaneously, or any region not included will exploit their advantage
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 5 days ago:
Feel free to provide an example law.
Because, such a law would have to be world-wide, and require a whole new framework to work, or people in countries without the law will abuse their position
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 5 days ago:
Again, as much as I’d like scalping to be banned, things don’t work that way.
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 5 days ago:
Well no. You don’t want manufacturers to have more control to define what you can do with things you bought .
I would be a super bad look at steam, and epic of course would jump on it and say they’re suing customers…I wouldn’t buy steam products either if they started suing people

I worked at a computer store for a few months. Tools like PC part picker likely aren’t always 100% accurate… And, even small things like cases can cause issues.
And, you still can have weird issues. I bought an omnibook and was getting random stalls. I’m still not sure it was fully because I didn’t have enough ram. You shouldn’t, but it does still happen.
Nobody is forcing you to buy it. But a lot of people just want a turnkey solution (like I said) where everything just works with minimum effort. I actually play games on a 4k tv… using a rog ally.
It’s not like steam likely won’t update their steam machine specs again when it makes sense either. It’s unlikely they’d run the same cycle length as Xbox, Nintendo or Sony
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 6 days ago:
Nobody said that
I think the confusion here is that you see gamers as nerds who all want ray tracing and photorealism
They aren’t. Some are
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 6 days ago:
As much as I hate scalpers, there are no laws broken.
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 6 days ago:
Sorry, that’s what I mean. I mean custom pc
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 1 week ago:
Yeah. I tried gaming PC for a while. Have fun with random issues.
Same as a nas. Everyone tries building their own, and ends up going turnkey eventually
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 1 week ago:
Other platforms achieve that by messing with the quality.
And, I play all my games on rog ally on my 4k screen. This is substantially more powerful. And it’s a turnkey solution
- Comment on My steam machine arrived! 1 week ago:
There is nothing illegal about it

Humble bundle I assume?

Probably need more info on what you’re running. It’s much better than bazzite on my rog Ally x (and definitely better than the windows shiz show it shipped with). But, if a desktop, not sure yet
- Comment on Valve is so behind on Steam Controller orders that some won’t ship until 2027 3 weeks ago:
Yeah. They probably are a factor too
I’m lucky that my brother managed to get a steam controller, but realised he didn’t really need it, so instead of waiting until 2027, I got one of the first batches
There’s gonna be a lot of people selling their Xbox and other controllers though soon

There’s no other controllers with touchpad .
That’s why people want it. I looked extensibly… I’m used to gaming on keyboard or mouse so I figured I’m better on touchpad than sticks
And why would they need the press coverage into 2027? Id expect they’d prefer sales, where the money could be used for marketing. They already have products like steam frame which will generate media attention later this year

It’s hyped because of the touchpads. And hall effect sticks
That’s why I got it. Sold the dual shock, and Hoping to sell my Xbox controller too
- Comment on Got my Steam Controller guys! Ain't she a beaut 🤩 5 weeks ago:
Yeah. I grew up on computer. I seem to struggle with sticks tbh 😂

I’m looking for something with touchpad. Thats the distinction
