WNBA in a nutshell: Entitled, Jealous, good fundamentals.

Nope. The WNBA is awesome. You should watch some recent games. So many overtime games and close calls. Great stuff.

That’s different stuff…
In fact, the only way they’re connected is they kind of support each other.
The WNBA as an organization is insanely jealous of Clark, because she became a star for no real reason. Shes talented, but she’s not the most talented. And in every other aspect, it’s the same.
She just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and the vast majority resent her for it.
That paints a huge target on her back, even for officials if they’ve been around a decade. However it also makes the league insanely competitive. Even when she’s not on the court, everyone is chasing that level of recognition now that is seems possible.
It’s great for the league, but it’s still crazy it’s happening. It’s not even like in men’s sports where a top athlete is feared or respected like Larry Byrd, they just fucking hate her because she’s successful.

Oh, I get you. I wasn’t clear on what you were tying to say. I agree with most of what you say, but I do think Clark is insanely talented. Her making shots from the logo while running are pretty epic to see live. But I do get annoyed that Clark is talked about so much.

She is…
It’s just she’s not the best in the league. She probably will be eventually, but she was treated like she was already as soon as she declared for the draft.
Like, the “W” in WNBA isn’t even relevant here, that kind of dynamic is going to breed jealous thru no fault of her own. Especially considering how much money is in sports and how likely it was that owners just needed any star to generate hype for the league.
If that was the reason, then all the suspect calls and drama makes more sense.
Look at the people who own pro sports teams and the shit they pull off

Maybe I’ll check out a WNBA game when I have a chance, but I watched the NCAAW Final Four last year and wasn’t that impressed. It’s pretty low-scoring and low-energy compared to the male counterpart.
Caitlin Clark was fun to watch in college, but that was largely due to her just obliterating her opponents like she was Steph Curry. Without that skill gap, the female version of the game is a lot less interesting to me.

You really should. I have been watching games all season this time, and it’s crazy. Most of the teams are so evenly matched that many end within just a few points of each other. So many comebacks. It’s so hard to guess who’s gonna win. Early on this season I was betting a bit on them, but nope. I just couldn’t win. I just can not predict the outcome. It’s like a 50/50 bet each time. lol
I prefer WNBA to NBA to be honest. NBA guys are almost superhuman, so I just can’t get into it. But watching these women play, it’s just much more realistic to me and fun. Also I probably like the underdog status of it all.
Good be that so many people used to hate on the WNBA, it made me sorta like them. lol Go watch some highlights of recent games. Clark gets a lot of the news (and she’s really good), but I don’t think she’s the most exciting one to watch. Lots of good players this season.

If the WNBA players aren’t bricking 3s over and over again like they do in the NBA, that’d certainly be a welcome improvement.
It’s rare, but some female sports have benefits/advantages that the male equivalents don’t have. In womens’ soccer, for example, (my favorite female sport), they don’t flop at all. It leads to more gameplay and less downtime.
