Comment on Mullvad shutting down their public DNS-servers
RedSnt@feddit.dk 11 hours ago
I’m glad I caught this early, thanks for posting it.
Link to Quad9’s DNS services.
Besides Mullvad, which I’ve now changed to Quad9, I use Adguard.com (Cypriot company), LibreDNS.gr (Greek) and UncensoredDNS.org (Danish). They all support both DNS-over-TLS and DNS-over-HTTPS.
Anyone got other European recommendations?

Honestly Quad9 is the best. Its non profit and switzerland based.
I know people want adblocking DNS, but Adguard is fuckin suss with its Russian ties and for profit motive.

Adguard is a Russian company that pretends to be Cypriot.

Thanks for letting me know. There was some sketchiness with a dot com site being Cypriot, like maybe it was for tax purposes, rights or something, but I hadn’t investigated it too much.

No problem! Technically they ARE a Cypriot company (and probably even hire in the EU now and have to obey GDPR and stuff), but historically it’s been founded in Moscow. And personally I would consider even historical ties to authoritarian countries a red flag.
