I’m not familiar with the metaphor, if it isn’t too much too ask could you explain what the phrase “climbing the tower of babel” means? It is phrase of religious origin?

It is a story from the bible. People from Babel built a super high tower. They wanted to reach heaven with it. The tower failed and came down, and then suddenly everybody was speaking in a different language than everybody else, and so they were in serious trouble.
