Spotify should be happy they get a song for fractions of a cent. Without the artists, they’d be nothing.
Comment on Spotify just hid song lyrics behind its subscription

I’m assuming this was sarcasm.
If not, I must have missed the past where they became a nonprofit…

Because spotify is giving out the free plan just to be altruistic. Surely they aren’t harvesting and selling your data/feeding you commercials to pay for that. No siree.

Some people are born to be doormats.
In twenty years, “Spotify requires users to perform oral sex on executives to renew premium subscription.” That person, “Hmph! We’re so lucky to get to suck a cock. Why is everyone complaining?!”
Reminds me of the character in the series Norsemen who loves being a slave and is always finding reasons why it’s good that the Vikings piss in his mouth, or make him eat shit, or cut off a finger.

Uhh… yeah? Advertising and data selling is how everything free is paid for. No one is making you use it and im sure people aren’t still that blind to the fact.

So what is greedy about someone complaining about a service they pay for (with data/ads) offering less features without lowering the price (less adds/tracking)?
HappycamperNZ@lemmy.world 5 months ago
Different issue - my argument is on those expecting a free service not to sell your data you provide.
Another version if shrinkflation is a whole other argument.
