quite a few of these links are just: I installed windows game on the steam deck! Heres How I Managed This Herculean Task Using Arcane Magics: just runs the game with wine/proton

It’s still handy imo to know that projects like this will work on the deck. ProtonDB only covers steam games, and the winehq database is focused on compatibility with wine rather than proton.

Now that you mention it: I never realised that protondb only covers games on steam! maybe they should add a way to add nonsteam games.

They definitely should. The other day I was installing Need For Speed Underground on my EOS PC and of course it’s not on ProtonDB because it’s not on Steam, so I expected a headache.
Nope, added it to Steam and it just worked. No settings needed set at all. I’d love to add that info to the ProtonDB but can’t.
