BrikoX@lemmy.zip 7 hours agoAVIF and JPEG XL are two of the top of the line standards, but both have different strengths and weaknesses. Each of them are also being backed by a different monopoly power hence neither of them being implemented universally.

Once you mentioned AVIF, I found it “FLIF”, but JPEG-XL is an extension thereof.
