This plugin allows two decks to connect directly to one another, allowing multiplayer lan games to work without any wifi network available.
That's useful enough to think it really should be incorporated into SteamOS.

I think there may be security concerns since the deck is a PC and not ultra-locked-down like the switch
Steam Deck’s OS is immutable. It’s pretty “locked down” already, although not quite as a Switch.

I remember before the Steam Deck was released, and people were discussing all the potential capabilities of the upcoming device, it was often asked if this might be a feature. Of course, there would be the usual “It’s a PC, so yes” answers, but the more accurate answers along the lines of “If it’s not, someone will make it work” are finally coming true.

I know people have managed to do this manually for awhile now, but honestly it sounded like more trouble than it was worth, especially when many people can just toggle on a wifi hotspot on their phone.
This is great though, finally a nice user friendly option.
