Do I understand right, that some delusional pricks in one particular US state pushed this nonsense with age verification, and distro devs, instead of just removing OS access from this particular state, wanna make this crap with AV globally?

I’ve previously written that they should just challenge this in court because distributing operating systems is distributing software, is distributing information, is protected as freedom of speech.

What I wonder is why we are only hearing very much about this now that the law has already passed the legislature and been signed into law? Would not the right time have been before those things happened?

Username is not in the age-check file. This incident will be reported.

I think such a service could be implemented easily in Bash…

The thing the Fedora guy is proposing sounds… sane to me. Just another question when you create a user, another config file and a daemon that answers yes / no if asked if a user is of a certain age.

Agreed, and as far as I can tell that would be fully compliant.
