Aaand this is the gamble of buying early access.
Valheim 1.0 won’t update the survival game’s sparse oceans, reveal devs Iron Gate, who add it’s "too soon to say" how long post-release updates will continue

Ehh… Im not sure it was a gamble in this case. Valheim was pretty complete in its early access form when I bought it like nearly 5 years ago. It also has overwhelmingly positive reviews. I think it’s also delivered more than its original roadmap, which wasn’t much past mistlands.
They stated it will still receive bug fixes, just perhaps no new content.
I think I paid $20 for it and I feel I got my money for it, even though I haven’t even played it since before the mistlands update released. I plan on firing it up again after the deep north 1.0 releases and imagine having a lot of fun with it.

While I agree that Vahiem is a great value proposition and a lot of fun, IronGate’s first roadmap clearly stated that the ocean biome was going to get its own update.

I played the game with a friend years ago and it was a great experience for the price. Buying early access on promises is a gamble. If you buy the game for what it is I don’t see the issue.

I mean there’s barely swimming, so I’m not too upset. There are still the sea serpents and chitin creatures to find.
