Clarification for all that are as confused by the headline as I have been:

It actually is about the DuckDuckGo browser which apparently is a thing as I’ve learned now…

      So far so good!

I use the DDG on my mobile, Android, for my daily driver browser. It just works. I think they have some form of “AI” but it’s easily avoidable.

Search is comparable to G@@&)3 but isn’t (as far as i know) tracking you.

I can’t say much because I do not search for many things; however, I do get results and they are helpful and not advertisements.

Hope this tracks and is helpful!

I don’t quite get the point on platforms on which less limited options (like FF + uBlock + any search engine you want set as standard) are available. Main selling point is convenience, I guess?

      Is it open source?

yeah, it’s on f-droid afaik. i believe it’s a simple webview wrapper and not really a full browser.

How long before we get the feature in LibreWolf?

you can just install ublock origin? or you’re looking for something builtin?

Librewolf has uBlock builtin already, which is probably superior to a solution based on system-wrapper-browsing (in the most cases built on restricted chrome engines) like the DuckDuckGo browser does.

It’s actually the main reason I am using LibreWolf on my company laptop, as installation of external browser plugins is disabled there…

I wonder if Google would try to “punish” DuDuckGo for such ragebaiting actions.

That’s cool and all, but being able to block YouTube ads in my browser has been table stakes from the beginning, so I’m already set

It’s being like that for a long time, and for some reason when I watch YouTube on duck duck go I got related videos on my TV and I don’t even use a google account.
