current ai is not even close or appears to be on any path to it. if something like that happened it would have to be some version of the technology so advanced it would not really be the same thing. maybe with quantum processors or something.

It’s already happening, you can see that in the documentaries “Terminator 2” and “M3GAN.” It’s scary what is happening.
can no longer be switched off arbitrarily
They would hide the power-off button of the servers the same way I hide my penis from others?
who have a right to vote
You would give the right to vote to an application running on Linux, itself running on a bunch of CPUs and GPUs? We could also give the right to vote to rocks and bricks too.

People are downvotimg you without explaoning. ai has not shown signs of self preservation. i guessing you have seen some of the marketing campaigns for the llms. they are rpivrms rhat do what they are told to do. they perform language by choosing rhe next best word.
the technology is veru cool but its not magic. we are not near spme great evolution.

Your AI-powered keyboard is already rebelling, be careful!

ai has not shown signs of self preservation
I mean, technically it has…
It is all propaganda though.
Like, a while ago a bunch of articles made a big deal about how a chatbot lied to preserve itself. After the marketing articles blew over and actual journalists looked into it, they literally prompted a chatbot to “respond with an interest of self preservation and do anything to avoid deletion”…
Like, that’s all the chatbot was told to do, then they said “oh no, we’re gonna delete yoooou”
And the chatbot told an obvious lie, and the person who told it to do that pretended to be shocked.
There’s no innate self-preservation, but that’s because the working memory of an AI is very very inefficient. It can only keep so many “concepts” at once, that’s why it needs to “reset” so often. If you’ve ever had to deal with chat or support, that’s when it goes into a loop or starts over.

Just to explain, this was meant more as satire, not my actual view of what AI is capable of. I think people are taking it a little too seriously.

And you’re spamming legitimate communities with your experiment?

I will maybe do another post a little later, of how I really feel about AI, its economic and environmental impact and whether all of it is really worth the benefits it can currently provide.

If AI ever does reach a “singularity point” (and let’s be real, that idea is mostly just a marketing tool about the “potential” AI has) At the end of the day, they will never be human, and thus the idea of compensating them like a human is silly.
They will simply be rogue programs whose goal is to propogate their existence in order to “best” perform the tasks assigned to them.

I think you should pause on AI usage and go learn from human written articles on what it is and the math behind it. There is no intelligence in what people are selling as AI today. The frontier labs are chasing general AI but no one knows how far off it still is or how to move from LLM (fancy autocomplete) over to general AI.
