I get where she’s coming from, but bottom line Valve is (has always been) a business, and they will maximize selling.

The author fears indies will get smothered by the bigger studio ads, as typically happens, but funny enough lately I’ve been exposed to quite a few more Indy games I had no idea where popping up during the week with the new setup.

So Valve gets my attention, even more than I care to admit, and I see more independent games. I’m good with it.

Valve literally just put out a calendar that goes on the front page and highlights indie games.

I just took a look at the store page and I see tons of games that look interesting to me that I had never heard of before.

My memory of the previous steam store was that it would be the same AAA games and popular indie titles over and over. Stuff that I had heard of and didn’t want to play, or stuff that was already on my wishlist. I would generally find out about new games from outside of steam.

So this seems like a really good improvement, and I love the personal release calendar too. This looks like a really good way to surface games that may otherwise have gone unnoticed.
