YouTube is getting a new tool that generates Shorts
All I needed to know. I hoped for a button to report AI slop.

I prefer this way personally. I’ve always asked if I could write things with a pen rather than type them on a computer. Unless they want me to use a ballpoint and press harder because CC paper.
- Comment on Anker is recalling over 1.1 million power banks due to fire and burn risks 1 week ago:
Point is, this could probably be buried in the many other blowing up power banks. Years old power bank caught on fire doesn’t make much news. Yet Anker went with a recall (though unfortunately it’s US only). Makes Anker look even better.
- Comment on Anker is recalling over 1.1 million power banks due to fire and burn risks 1 week ago:
I was searching for something like that ereyesterday. Couldn’t find anything aside from maybe Xtar BC4 which is a battery charger with power bank function, but even if that works properly, it’s going to be not very useful capacity-wise.
I have one of those 4xAA power banks from AliExpress, but it quickly drops voltage way too far. It’s fine for USB LED lights and running my USB fan for 5 hours (with some old NI-MH batteries I have), but it won’t charge most things due to the voltage drop. One more problem is the series connection. Weaker cells can get reverse-charged and damaged during discharge.
- Comment on Anker is recalling over 1.1 million power banks due to fire and burn risks 1 week ago:
The company has received 19 reports of fires and explosions
The recall covers about 1,158,000 units that were sold online through Amazon, Newegg, and eBay between June 2016 and December 2022.
That still sounds more trustworthy than random power bank from Wish.
I’ve had a power bank with earbuds (yes) from AliExpress that just randomly started to feel quite warm. Not the battery being a problem, some chip (SY7656) on the board was cooking.
I tried to replace it, but I couldn’t do a good job without a heat gun. It broke again after a few weeks. Probably overheated as I couldn’t do anything about solder that was supposed to be below it. But anyway…Also had a cheap power bank from Tesco that would self-discharge in 3 days.
- Comment on New tool burns images onto Compact Discs' recording area using ones and zeros — unlike Lightscribe, the technique works on any disc 1 week ago:
Ah, no. It’s for CDs only. Specifically Mode 2 used for audio since that gives more control over what is 1 and 0.
Based on a different similar project: instructables.com/Burning-visible-images-onto-CD-…

If this is CD-RW try
cdrecord blank=fast
first if it isn’t blank. Just an idea. - Comment on New tool burns images onto Compact Discs' recording area using ones and zeros — unlike Lightscribe, the technique works on any disc 2 weeks ago:
I think it could be forked to append images to actual audio tracks, but I am too dumb to do so.

What’s the error? I’ve played around with this successfully.

How famous is Lemmy? The linked hackaday post seems to be from 2022, the github page had last activity 3 years ago.
Perhaps hackernews was a middlestep: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44208283
But otherwise it may as well originate from my recent Lemmy post: old.lemmy.sdf.org/post/36007202 (the old subdomain usually works as well as the API, but the native Lemmy frontend on SDF, 502 or long wait)
I’ve also seen Lemmy being used as a source for something on Linus Tech Tips.

Perhaps same as 3 seat row or 2 door cars with rear row. Good luck escaping from the back in rush.

Bigger horseshit in the manual: tesla.com/…/GUID-AAD769C7-88A3-4695-987E-0E00025F…
Not all Model Y vehicles are equipped with a manual release for the rear doors.
- Comment on Help a 7-y.o. Kid Get His First Linux Gaming PC 7 months ago:
Maybe a stupid idea, but try manually selecting the SSD in boot menu. I don’t trust UEFI/BIOS to do what it’s supposed to after finding out that HP UEFI simply wipes all boot entries after booting an external drive.
I tried switching to the Nvidia drivers but all I got was a black screen.
That does sound familiar from when I used GeForce 8600M GT laptop. Nouveau mostly worked, but the official NVidia driver did this. What worked was switching to an old kernel, Linux 5.4 on that thing. But I don’t like this “solution”.

I’ve seen such video. The dude struggled to move because he just barely fit in enough to still be able to breathe. There was water in there, and he said he has to return because it’s starting to fill with water.
Fill with water? Nope. Nope. Why would I go in such space.
