- Comment on First Steam Deck plugin on Steam will bring GOG and Epic Games compatibility 2 months ago:
A paid plug in just seems pretty shitty to begin with.
I know Heroic can add your GOG and Epic games to Steam which would make it moot, but unfortunately most people probably don’t use the desktop mode anyway.
- Comment on Despite some surprisingly chill Flight Simulator 2024 system requirements, the 'Ideal Spec' demands more RAM than storage 2 months ago:
Gotcha, that makes sense. The article makes it seem like 10 is all you get.
- Comment on Despite some surprisingly chill Flight Simulator 2024 system requirements, the 'Ideal Spec' demands more RAM than storage 2 months ago:
So the most expensive version of the game only includes 10 airports?
- Comment on Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are suing the Palworld developers for "infringement of patent rights" 2 months ago:
This is about patents, not about copyrights, for anyone confused. It’s not because some of the characters look like existing pokemon, it’s likely about game mechanics that Nintendo holds patents on.
- Comment on Zynga owes IBM $45M after using 1980s patented technology for hit games 2 months ago:
So how is it that a patent from 1989 only expired in 2023?
- Comment on Zynga owes IBM $45M after using 1980s patented technology for hit games 2 months ago:
That was my thoughts. Patents normally expire after 20 years, so how is a patent from the 80s still valid after nearly 40?
- Comment on We Now Have 16,000 Steam Deck Verified/Playable Games To Play Through 3 months ago:
Steam Deck verification includes things like text being legible and buttons showing up correctly in prompts and mapping, etc. For example, Civilization VI has a Linux native version but is not verified because some game text is too small, and it might require some typing using the virtual keyboard which may not pop up automatically when required.
- Comment on Twystlock - Free, 100% 3D printable gaming accessories 3 months ago:
Unless I’m looking at it wrong, it’s not print in place, it needs to be glued together. It looks like a 2-piece set for either side. To be printed in one piece, it would require non-removable supports.
- Comment on The Steam Deck finally has its own friends list icon. 4 months ago:
Is this really what’s considered a “great feature?”
Why do I need everyone to know I’m playing on my Steam Deck? I mean it’s not bad, but it seems more like a footnote than a feature.
- Comment on PSA: If you use Bazzite on your deck, you need to do a manual fix to get updates 5 months ago:
Does it also have the power-limiting features?
- Comment on Elden Ring is "the limit" for From Software project scale, says Miyazaki - multiple, "smaller" games may be the "next stage" 5 months ago:
FromSoft, you can make anything you want and I’ll probably buy it, just stop putting jumping puzzles in your games, at least until you figure out good jumping mechanics first.
- Comment on ZOTAC Zone is yet another AMD gaming handheld 6 months ago:
They must have been reading the comments to every other handheld. Every time a new one is announced, the Steam Deck’s trackpads are mentioned as a selling point.
Another nice thing is the Hall effect joysticks, but that 120Hz display seems like overkill to me.
The price makes for a tough sale though.
- Comment on [Game] Back 4 Blood gets Denuvo Anti-tamper removed and an anti-cheat fix for Steam Deck 6 months ago:
That’s why they removed it. It’s a subscription service that they pay for when the game is popular, and when everybody moves on, there’s no reason to keep paying.
Regardless of one’s opinion on DRM and piracy, Denuvo is very effective at what it does. They don’t care about losing sales from people with principles, as long as nobody can play without paying.
- Comment on [HELP] Updates stalling in desktop mode 7 months ago:
All the Linux updates, not the game updates. I don’t know if they’re all flatpak, but I have tons of them waiting to update

- Comment on [Game] Hades II gets Steam Deck Verified and a surprise Early Access release 7 months ago:
Hades II just sneakily dropped into Early Access on Steam.
What was sneaky about it? They had a technical test recently, and announced Early Access would be coming soon as they were shutting down the test period.

Meh, it’s not my cup of tea, but there’s no denying it’s insanely popular.
- Comment on To play Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree, you must defeat some of Elden Ring’s toughest bosses 8 months ago:
It’s Mohg, Lord of Blood in Mohgwyn Palace, and not Mohg, the Omen in Leyndell Sewers, for anyone who isn’t aware or didn’t know the difference.
- Comment on Battlefield V now broken on Steam Deck / Linux with EA anticheat live 8 months ago:
Unfortunately, I doubt there’s anything that can be done legally. It’s announced, promoted, and sold as a Windows game. I don’t think they have any responsibility to make sure it works on other platforms, though I think they should do it anyway.
That said, if these companies want people to depend on their servers to play games, server-side anti-cheat makes a lot more sense and is a lot more effective. But they don’t care about what makes sense.
- Comment on Dragon's Dogma 2 updates will give you new save option and make player dwellings available earlier 8 months ago:
I wonder how much you’ll have to pay for the new features.
- Comment on Microsoft is stuffing pop-up ads into Google Chrome on Windows again 8 months ago:
We value providing our customers with choice, so there is an option to dismiss the notification.
If that were true at all, they would have a pop-up in Edge asking if they want to keep using Bing or switch to another search engine.
- Comment on Here Are The Horizon Forbidden West PC Specs And System Requirements 9 months ago:
Steam Deck probably won’t cut it, even at very low settings. That’s a shame.
- Comment on How one unexpected game (Nier Automata) changed the Steam Deck forever 9 months ago:
there was just a lot of traversal back-and-forth which made me really tired of the environment
More importantly, there’s no fun traversal mechanic for getting around the large areas. Just running and jumping.
- Comment on Streaming Ads Are So Much Worse Than Traditional Ad Breaks | MZS | Roger Ebert 9 months ago:
Worse? Clearly you don’t remember the days when if you got home at 6:15, you would miss half of your show. Or the days where the only option if you wanted a specific channel was to subscribe to an expensive bundle that included 8 other channels you didn’t want.
Advertising has gotten so much worse, but everything being on-demand is miles better than what we used to have.
- Comment on New to Steam Deck and PC gaming, I'm looking for game recommendations... 9 months ago:
Both of those games are at the top of their genres. They are fantastic games, and they do play great on the Deck.

Like this. - Comment on I've never had a Steam account or done PC gaming. I have a OLED SteamDeck coming. what do I need to know? 11 months ago:
Yes, it does have bluetooth, and it does work for headphones. Without actively listening specifically for sound quality, it seemed fine for me.
My wired headphones are just better, so I prefer to use those.
The built-in speakers aren’t amazing, but they’re decent for a portable device.
- Comment on How do I use ProtonVPN on my Steam Deck in desktop mode? 1 year ago:
I don’t know about ProtonVPN specifically, but I’ve found if you set your VPN to connect automatically, it actually stops it from working entirely, so best to make sure you manually connect.
- Comment on 1 year ago:
It runs fine in a browser for free as well.
- Comment on Supposed Steam Deck killers are missing the point 1 year ago:
The point is that a PC has a million possible configurations that can affect performance. A pared-down environment, like gamescope, cuts down on most of the software-side issues that a PC deals with.
Yes, just installing a game on Windows and running it is pretty simple, but these days lots of games have anti-cheats which can be triggered by other software running (or even just installed) on the computer. Windows on its own has a ton of overhead due to all the background and telemetry processes always running.
A console forgoes a lot of that background stuff, and limits the hardware compatibility issues by being a fixed environment. Your game only needs to run on one specific combination of hardware for each console it’s released on. In that sense, it is a lot less finicky than running it on a PC.
