Big fan of SBC gaming, open source engine recreations/source ports, the cyberpunk aesthetic, Linux, photographing graffiti, and firmware modding.
I’ve switched instances a few times due to technical issues.
- Comment on Valve won't sacrifice battery life to deliver a more powerful Steam Deck 2 1 month ago:
I’m glad they aren’t planning on releasing incrementally upgraded devices.
Retroid makes a lot of handheld emulators that are decent quality but it feels like they release a new model every few months that’s just slightly better than the last. It’s an easy way to feel cheated and hesitant about what you’re buying.

- Comment on GTA Online update pops a quality-of-life feature behind the GTA+ paywall, making it unavailable on PC 5 months ago:
allows you to collect cash accumulated in safes, request vehicles and replenish ammo using your in-game phone - but only if you pay up $8 or $7 a month for a GTA+ subscription, which is currently not available on PC.
- Comment on Beloved and janky spy RPG Alpha Protocol returns to Steam after four year absence 5 months ago:
Glad it’s back. It was considered abandonware for a while there.
I played it on my PS3 not too long ago and it’s definitely a middle of the road game. It feels ambitious and like it fell flat at the same time. The game gives you a decent amount of choice but it didn’t feel fun enough to replay. For a spy game I didn’t think it had the best stealth mechanics.
- Comment on In Dystopika you are the chill landscaper of a vast cyberpunk city, and it is exactly my cup of noodles 5 months ago:
I could see that being a game I play sporadically or once and never again. At least it’s price fairly.
For those interested AirCar is another chill cyberpunk game. You fly around the city in VR. It can be a bit nauseating if start doing rolls though. It’s also free.
- Comment on Starfield will get at least one more expansion after Shattered Space, Todd Howard says 5 months ago:
Howard referred to Shattered Space as being in the vein of Bethesda’s other “annual story expansions”, adding that the developers hope to release additional content for Starfield for “a very long time". That means we’ll see at least one more big expansion, with Howard saying that the team “more or less” plan to put out annual DLC in a similar way to their previous games.
“We’re planning for the one after [Shattered Space], so there will be another one,” Howard then confirmed.
I feel like these two comments hint at different things. I hope there is more than one DLC to come.
I haven’t played Starfield yet but I’ve heard the base game can be kind of dull at times. I was hoping we would see some kind of No Man’s Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 changes to the base elements of the game that might address this.

It didn’t already? Was it a different Heroes of Might and Magic game that’s on emulator handhelds?
- Comment on Crunchyroll is about to get a little more expensive, just like all the other streamers 7 months ago:
I got rid of my Crunchyroll subscription because their Apple TV app kept logging me out
- Comment on Steamdeck setup without PC 7 months ago:
I found this post by doing a search for “TTW” on mbin and got lucky. YouTube and Reddit have been all but useless as tutorials all assume you have a windows pc for heavy lifting. I got a deck to be my pc.
Neat. By the way check the megathread for Gnarly’s reentry page. His old website is down.
- Comment on What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game? 7 months ago:
I agree but I wouldn’t recommend it to a casual fan. I think most of them would view it as more of a novelty and only get so far in the game.
If someone was looking for more Fallout after playing 3, NV, and 4 I’d probably recommend a game outside of the franchise that has similar themes like Metro 2033 or STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.
- Comment on Steamdeck setup without PC 7 months ago:
You can install TTW on the Steam Deck. You could probably set it up in Lutris and just alter the selected executable back and forth throughout the installation process. That said Gnarly Repacks has a TTW repack that streamlines the process.
- Comment on What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game? 7 months ago:
Would you need to go all the way back and play the original Metal Gear or is Metal Gear Solid a decent starting point?
- Comment on What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game? 7 months ago:
Even if the stories don’t connect, I always would recommend starting at the earliest point in a series and moving forward, since this allows for a better appreciation of the evolution of the game over several iterations rather than being disappointed by the regression you would see going backwards or jumping around.
How do you approach remakes/remasters, franchise reboots, and prequels in that case? Do you play them in release order?
I think taking that approach would put a lot of people in the situation where they are forcing themselves to play something they don’t really want to. How many people have gone back and played TES Arena or even Morrowind?
Maybe it’s because I like completing games that I start but I feel like just trying every game that lead up to Skyrim would get tiring in a hurry.
- Comment on What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game? 7 months ago:
Is Bioshock Infinite that connected to the first the two games? I can’t recall a lot of callbacks.
I feel like that’s one of those situations where you could use Infinite as a starting point then go back and play the originals.

- Comment on Huawei wants to take HarmonyOS smartphone platform worldwide 7 months ago:
Interesting. Thanks for filling me in
- Comment on Huawei wants to take HarmonyOS smartphone platform worldwide 7 months ago:
Part of this process will involve porting apps to HarmonyOS and encouraging other app developers to code for the platform.
“In the China market, Huawei smartphone users spend 99 percent of their time on about 5,000 apps. So we decided to spend 2024 porting these apps over to HarmonyOS first in our drive to truly unify the OS and the app ecosystem. We are also encouraging other apps to be ported over to HarmonyOS,” Xu said.
According to Huawei’s rotating chairman, more than 4,000 of those apps are already in the process of being transferred, and the company is “communicating with developers” on the 1,000 or so apps that remain.
I haven’t looked into HarmonyOS before but is the plan to work off of a compatibility layer like Wine or Anbox?
I have no idea how detached it is from Android or how willing companies are to embrace it.
- Comment on The Fallout TV show gave the Fallout games a huge player bump, as everyone remembers they like Fallout 8 months ago:
Can you nuke Shady Sands? I thought all you could target was Dry Wells and the Long 15.
I did think about that though. It would be interesting if they chose to make all the evil decisions the courier can make canon.
Kind of like the New Vegas mod DUST.

Why do you say that? We got a single glimpse of Vegas and I don’t think much else
- Comment on Thousands of LG TVs are vulnerable to takeover—here’s how to ensure yours isn’t one 8 months ago:
That’s what I was thinking.
Some TVs have microphones and cameras. I wasn’t sure if these models do and if that could be exploited or if something even more malicious would be possible.
- Comment on The first handheld to use PlaytronOS is some Web3 thing - the SuiPlay0x1 8 months ago:
I don’t think I’d ever buy something like this but it seems weird enough to be interesting and I’d definitely watch a Retro Games Corps or Taki Udon video about it if it actually releases.

That’s interesting. What exactly could a malicious actor do with that kind of access?

That kind of reminds me of Control on the Switch; it’s a cloud based version so if the host you’re out of luck.

I’m pretty sure in the situation of The Crew there is a built in offline mode but it’s disabled.

- Comment on TV Tropes' list of video game spiritual successors 8 months ago:
Yeah some are going to be more blatant than others.
When you look at what influenced a game’s development more often than not there will be a long list. Look at Fallout New Vegas for example and how many movie references it has.
