Big fan of SBC gaming, open source engine recreations/source ports, the cyberpunk aesthetic, Linux, photographing graffiti, and firmware modding.
I’ve switched instances a few times due to technical issues.

It didn’t already? Was it a different Heroes of Might and Magic game that’s on emulator handhelds?
- Comment on Crunchyroll is about to get a little more expensive, just like all the other streamers 1 week ago:
I got rid of my Crunchyroll subscription because their Apple TV app kept logging me out
- Comment on Steamdeck setup without PC 2 weeks ago:
I found this post by doing a search for “TTW” on mbin and got lucky. YouTube and Reddit have been all but useless as tutorials all assume you have a windows pc for heavy lifting. I got a deck to be my pc.
Neat. By the way check the megathread for Gnarly’s reentry page. His old website is down.
- Comment on What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game? 2 weeks ago:
I agree but I wouldn’t recommend it to a casual fan. I think most of them would view it as more of a novelty and only get so far in the game.
If someone was looking for more Fallout after playing 3, NV, and 4 I’d probably recommend a game outside of the franchise that has similar themes like Metro 2033 or STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.
- Comment on Steamdeck setup without PC 2 weeks ago:
You can install TTW on the Steam Deck. You could probably set it up in Lutris and just alter the selected executable back and forth throughout the installation process. That said Gnarly Repacks has a TTW repack that streamlines the process.

Would you need to go all the way back and play the original Metal Gear or is Metal Gear Solid a decent starting point?
- Comment on What are some mainstream game series where you really do need to start from the first game? 2 weeks ago:
Even if the stories don’t connect, I always would recommend starting at the earliest point in a series and moving forward, since this allows for a better appreciation of the evolution of the game over several iterations rather than being disappointed by the regression you would see going backwards or jumping around.
How do you approach remakes/remasters, franchise reboots, and prequels in that case? Do you play them in release order?
I think taking that approach would put a lot of people in the situation where they are forcing themselves to play something they don’t really want to. How many people have gone back and played TES Arena or even Morrowind?
Maybe it’s because I like completing games that I start but I feel like just trying every game that lead up to Skyrim would get tiring in a hurry.

Is Bioshock Infinite that connected to the first the two games? I can’t recall a lot of callbacks.
I feel like that’s one of those situations where you could use Infinite as a starting point then go back and play the originals.

- Comment on Huawei wants to take HarmonyOS smartphone platform worldwide 3 weeks ago:
Interesting. Thanks for filling me in
- Comment on Huawei wants to take HarmonyOS smartphone platform worldwide 3 weeks ago:
Part of this process will involve porting apps to HarmonyOS and encouraging other app developers to code for the platform.
“In the China market, Huawei smartphone users spend 99 percent of their time on about 5,000 apps. So we decided to spend 2024 porting these apps over to HarmonyOS first in our drive to truly unify the OS and the app ecosystem. We are also encouraging other apps to be ported over to HarmonyOS,” Xu said.
According to Huawei’s rotating chairman, more than 4,000 of those apps are already in the process of being transferred, and the company is “communicating with developers” on the 1,000 or so apps that remain.
I haven’t looked into HarmonyOS before but is the plan to work off of a compatibility layer like Wine or Anbox?
I have no idea how detached it is from Android or how willing companies are to embrace it.
- Comment on The Fallout TV show gave the Fallout games a huge player bump, as everyone remembers they like Fallout 4 weeks ago:
Can you nuke Shady Sands? I thought all you could target was Dry Wells and the Long 15.
I did think about that though. It would be interesting if they chose to make all the evil decisions the courier can make canon.
Kind of like the New Vegas mod DUST.

Why do you say that? We got a single glimpse of Vegas and I don’t think much else
- Comment on Thousands of LG TVs are vulnerable to takeover—here’s how to ensure yours isn’t one 4 weeks ago:
That’s what I was thinking.
Some TVs have microphones and cameras. I wasn’t sure if these models do and if that could be exploited or if something even more malicious would be possible.
- Comment on The first handheld to use PlaytronOS is some Web3 thing - the SuiPlay0x1 4 weeks ago:
I don’t think I’d ever buy something like this but it seems weird enough to be interesting and I’d definitely watch a Retro Games Corps or Taki Udon video about it if it actually releases.

That’s interesting. What exactly could a malicious actor do with that kind of access?
- Comment on Stop Killing Games is a new campaign to stop developers making games unplayable 5 weeks ago:
That kind of reminds me of Control on the Switch; it’s a cloud based version so if the host you’re out of luck.

I’m pretty sure in the situation of The Crew there is a built in offline mode but it’s disabled.

You can always expand all the folders and Control + F to search the page for your favorite games
- Comment on TV Tropes' list of video game spiritual successors 1 month ago:
Yeah some are going to be more blatant than others.
When you look at what influenced a game’s development more often than not there will be a long list. Look at Fallout New Vegas for example and how many movie references it has.

Hotline Miami is a good one. Not super demanding and great for short play sessions
- Comment on What video games immediately grabbed your interest? 2 months ago:
And Portal, because GlaDos is one of the funniest characters of all time.
I had forgotten about Portal. I feel like the sequel definitely grabbed me right away. I was interested to see what had happened since the first game and Wheatley was a funny companion.
Also, I LOVED Returnal, but I rarely hear people talk about it.
I won’t go into detail, of course, but the lore is so much deeper than I expected, and very open to interpretation. There’re some very compelling theories out there.
That’s good to hear. I am looking forward to playing it more. I definitely do feel like it came and went from the news and I don’t really know why. Did Deathloop come out around the same time?
- Comment on What video games immediately grabbed your interest? 2 months ago:
I played 2006 before 2017 myself and I was surprised by how wildly different they were. 2006 felt like a roller coaster ride the entire time. I felt like I was along for the ride

- Comment on Which shows do you think ended too soon, or went on too long? 2 months ago:
Went on too long? Mr. Pickles. I like the show but it continued on past the third season as Momma Named Me Sheriff and it is significantly worse. It just feels like one of those generic crude humor shows by Roger Black and Waco O’Guin that Netflix pumps out.
There’s also How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men.
Ended too soon? Jeff and Some Aliens. A great dark comedy cartoon that I have rewatched several times.

Sure but TTW wasn’t the only CPU heavy installer I’ve encountered. My marginally stronger desktop has saved me a lot of time in that situation
- Comment on Steamdeck setup without PC 2 months ago:
Not really. The issue I’m talking about is long install times not clicking and dragging. Tale of Two Wastelands I think took took me twelve hours to install on my Steam Deck versus one and a half on my PC
- Comment on Steamdeck setup without PC 2 months ago:
Oh yeah when there’s a will there’s a way. You could install Linux on a Nintendo Wii and find a way to create a bootable USB from there but it’s pretty much always going to be easier to use a desktop to create it is my point.
I just thought it’s a minor inconvenience worth noting.
