I was kinda on their side until that last paragraph. What a wild flip.

I couldn’t agree more. The fact that it isn’t preventing selective enforcement of the law tells me we’re way past legal precedence being relevant (and well into societal collapse).

I think the inconsistency is the point. It’ll be based on how much money you have. So individuals will always be in the wrong, companies can legally steal from artists, and megacorps can legally use whatever they like. But smaller corps can’t steal from megacorps, so AI models will always be safe.
- Comment on RAM may be abominably expensive, but hey, at least SSD prices are also exploding 7 months ago:
This is the strategy I am now forced to adopt as well. I bought a 2 TB SSD for my home server in late 2024 for $80, then it died exactly a year and a day later. I knew RAM was out of control, but didn’t expect to see the same SSD for $350.
So I guess it’s back to the old 250 GB SSD and rotating old stuff onto an ancient HHD, then hoping prices tank again before one of those implodes.

You can exchange money for goods and services? I thought it all had to go to the rich overlords.
- Comment on Windows 11 Start Menu Revealed as Resource-Heavy React Native App, Sparks Performance Concerns 1 year ago:
Does anybody have a link to an actual source for the claim? I would absolutely believe it, but this article’s “source” just seems to be the same article but Russian. The guy on Twitter claiming to be the author of the code seems to be trolling, leaving me with no leads.
I want to send this to my coworker who hates React, but I don’t want to spread misinformation.
