Hello.

Maybe it was living in the desert SW for awhile, but my fav yard chair was always the small boulder.
- Comment on Why are there circles of melted snow on this icy pond? 11 months ago:
My hypothesis:
So, basic principles out of the way first, dark absorbs more sun, white reflects it. As the snow melts and reveals the darker colored water beneath, this will begin a runaway feedback loop that will slowly melt more and more ice. Assuming it’s not too cold out, anyway.
Since this is actually a runaway feedback loop that is going to eventually melt the whole surface of this body of water, we just need to get it started, and everywhere it starts, it’ll spread from. All we need, is something that darkens the surface of the snow.
In the case of that center circle, it’s hard to make out, but I think I see a stick jutting out in the exact center. A brown stick, no less.

Politics is just the name we give to all the mechanisms by which we sort out and distribute power in our societies. Who does and doesn’t get power, who gets to tell who what to do, etc.
This is a genuinely life-or-death concept, and for those that are engaged with it, sometimes an overridingly powerful priority that can govern their behavior. This is just … true.
At any rate, the tools of the information age have opened it up as a front for warfare, so that’s what we’re seeing. We’ve essentially been “at war” for years now, it’s just that attacks are usually only executed with sufficient culpable deniability, because the consequences of escalating to an actual hot war are utterly terrifying for everyone with more than two brain cells. That’s my working hypothesis anyway.
That’s all.

Hell yea! I’ve been wondering how long it’d be until I ran into someone on Lemmy had played it. lol Yeah it’s pretty good. I’m glad the devs have returned to the project too. I know they wanted to try out other stuff, but in this one subgenre, they’re the fucking kings man. Biggest fish in the whole pond imo. It’s a good spot to be in.
One of the more niche games around, for sure though. lol
- Comment on What moment from a video game made you cry? 11 months ago:
Two games, that I can remember.
One was a particular Journey playthrough, where I happened to match with another really good player. We spent basically the entire game airborne, which if you know Journey mechanics, takes some doing. They drew me a heart at the end, that did it.
Second was my first successful Suzerain run. A morgna wes core.
- Comment on The amount of communities I need to block to not see the same old stuff over and over again 11 months ago:
What I don’t get is why people would expect it to be any good. If you went over to reddit, and somehow actually got it to sort by literally “all” subs, and especially if you flipped over to “new”…
That is just not going to be anything but a shitty experience.
Do people think like, everything that exists must somehow be good or something? No, meh content is everywhere, and it gets reposted and shared all the time. It’s the bulk of it… We’re better than reddit would be, but I still don’t use all very much. Mainly just use it to find decent new communities to actually subscribe to.
- Comment on stock vs stock cubes + water 11 months ago:
Cubes are a substitution, and while a super common one, are not quite the same thing. That said, yes, you do not need to turn them into “stock” by pre-dissolving first.
